However, on Monday, March 1, the sacred tree fell, an incident that has since send jitters to the residents who insisted that the tree is sending a special message.

They, in turn, implored their village elders to convene a special meeting to interpret what the falling means and find a possible solution to counteract havoc.
"Whenever a fig tree falls on its own, there must be a message to the community. It is something that should be taken seriously because it has a hidden meaning; the elders should convene a meeting a deliberate on it," the resident said.In a separate related incident, panic gripped residents of Kerugoya, Kirinyaga county, after a huge Mugumo tree believed to be 200-years old fell between two residential houses.
No one was injured during the incident, but this was a major concern for the elders who believed the sacred tree had a message to pass.
The residents feared a calamity might befall them, given the sacred tree under which sacrifices are made rarely falls.
"We know that when a Mugumo tree falls, something unpleasant might happen," said one of the residents, Mercy Muthoni.Linnet Kathambi: Woman behind TV star Omosh's house to build more for needy cases
